This workshop provides essential knowledge of the LEED Rating Systems and sustainable building concepts for those seeking a better understanding of LEED or pursuing GBCI’s LEED Green Associate credential. By presenting LEED
concepts at the credit category level – across building types and rating systems
– and basics on the building certification process, this workshop provides the
foundation required for any 300-level LEED education offering. Real project
examples help demonstrate and reinforce learning.

• Identify the key components of the LEED Rating System
• Discuss overall LEED Certification process
• Describe the intents and associated concepts of each LEED credit category
• Recognize successful LEED strategies and measurements for achieving

introduction to USGBC, green building principles and the fundamentals of the LEED Rating System. It includes topics
on climate change and building impacts;motivators for green building; and conventional versus integrative approaches – and the associated

construction and operations. This is the first step in building your knowledge of USGBC, LEEDand green building best practices and is a recommended prerequisite for any 200 or 300-level LEED education program.

Gain essential knowledge of the LEED BD+C rating systems, including credit intents, key elements, main requirements, and referenced standards; synergies among credits; and foundations of the LEED certification process, including basic documentation considerations. This workshop addresses the following LEED rating systems: LEED for New Construction & Major Renovations, LEED for Core & Shell, and LEED for Schools. Throughout the day, LEED^® Faculty^™ engage you in discussions and interactive activities based on real LEED projects to enforce what you’ve learned.
